The Wonderful World of Flat Panel digital display
Flat panel digital display is the greatest thing to hit our screens
since the advent of color television. Plasma digital display, LCD
digital display, rear projection digital display and DLP digital
display have filled our homes, businesses and school with unprecedented
color clarity and realism infusing our world with rich, magnificent
images so stunning they defy description.
What’s the Difference Among Flat Panel digital displays?
Plasma digital display, LCD digital display, rear projection digital
display, DLP digital display…what’s the difference? Because many folks
are confused about these new technologies (everyone does know they all
look great!), we’ve provided some brief definitions of each technology
so you’ll have a clearer awareness as you make your buying decision.
All these technologies create magnificent pictures.
Plasma digital display -
Plasma screens employ a matrix of tiny gas plasma bubbles coated by
phosphor and charged by precise electrical voltages to create a
picture. Presently, more screens beyond 30-inches are available in
plasma than LCD. Dazzling images!
LCD digital display
- Liquid crystal display digital display uses LCD technology (generally
TFT), as opposed to cathode ray or plasma for its visual output. The
result is breathtaking images. Larger screen LCD televisions are hugely
popular as more and more are produced.
Rear projection digital display
- A large-screen digital display that uses one of several technologies
for generating the image. All methods yield larger screens than the
one-tube, direct view CRT digital display, which reached a practical
limit around 36". Although not as visually dazzling as plasma digital
displays, rear-projection digital displays offer a competitive
alternative at a far more affordable price.
DLP digital display
- DLP (Digital Lighting Processing) technology uses an optical
semiconductor to manipulate light digitally. Picture quality is
masterful. You’ll find DLP technology in many televisions, home theater
systems and business and entertainment projectors.
